Architects of Accountability: Redefining Power, Peace and Progress
What the theme means
Accountability is having to answer for what you do. Architects design things. So delegates design the rules that make the powerful answer for their actions.
- Power: who has it, and what stops its misuse.
- Peace: not just no fighting, but people safe, fed and treated fairly.
- Progress: growth and technology that help everyone.
Objectives

- Experience how international diplomacy works.
- Build research, speaking and negotiation skills.
- Understand other points of view.
Why take part
- Gain confidence speaking in public.
- Learn to argue from evidence and find agreement.
- Meet students from other schools.
A delegate's day
Each delegate represents a country in one committee, after researching its position.
- Opening speeches: each country states its position.
- Debate: delegates respond to each other, guided by the chair.
- Negotiation: like-minded countries agree ideas.
- Resolution: groups write a plan of action.
- Vote: the committee amends and votes on it.
